Cynthia Eddings primarily paints in oil and often utilizes the iPad to paint digitally as a method of planning a composition as well as problem-solving a painting that is ‘stuck’. She has exhibited her paintings in several venues on the California Coast and has received three awards in Juried Shows at California Art Club, The California Open, and The Pasadena Art Expo. Recently a luxury hotel on the beach in Santa Monica purchased several paintings and are installing Giclee reproductions in their newly remodeled guest rooms.
Cynthia received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Pepperdine University in Malibu in 1981. Through her mentor, Joe Piasentin, Cynthia considers herself fourth generation, in the direct lineage of Richard Diebenkorn. Her work has been greatly influenced by looking at reproductions of Diebenkorn’s paintings in books and by visiting museums to see them live.
Other influences include Matisse, Andrew Wyeth, Sargent, Antonio Lopez Garcia and modern painters, Stuart Shills, Michael Workman, and Gary Komarin. She lives and paints full time in Santa Monica, California immersing herself in the lusciousness of painting while the fresh ocean air breezes into her small backyard studio.
